2. Our AQUAlity Summer School, which will take place on 8-9 April 2020.
Summer School on “Introduction to Basic Statistical Tools and Data Analysis in Research”
The Summer School is organized by the University of Ioannina (UOI), within the framework of AQUAlity Project: «Interdisciplinary Cross-sectoral Approach to Effectively Address the Removal of Contaminants of Emerging Concern from Water” (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) – Innovative Training Networks, H2020-MSCA-ITN-2017, Project N. 765860).
The aim of the event is to gather young researchers such as PhD candidates and postdocs, from various scientific disciplines, such as medical, chemistry, physics, biology, chemical engineering, environmental sciences, and provide detailed knowledge on chemometric tools, covering topics from introductory statistics to advanced data analysis methods.
The course will be composed of lectures, practical applications and working groups, from Professor C. Stalikas (Chemistry Dpt, UOI), Associate Professor N. Kourkoumelis (Medical School Dpt, UOI), Associate Professor V. Sakkas (Chemistry Dpt, UOI), and Associate Professor E. Robotti (Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale).

How to get to Ioannina – Transfers:
You can reach Ioannina
by bus: by regular intercity bus services from Athens, Thessaloniki, Igoumenitsa, Patra and other Greek cities (http://www.ktelioannina.gr).
by car: From Athens (411 km): you can take Olympia motorway from Athens to Patras and then Ionia motorway from Patras to Ioannina (travel time: 4.5 hours)
From Thessaloniki (260 km): you can take Egnatia motorway from Thessaloniki to Ioannina (travel time: 2.5 hours)
by plane: there are two air flights daily from and to Athens (travel time: 1 hour)
How to get to University (UOI):
The University premises are situated in one of the largest campuses of Greece, an attractive location about six kilometers from the centre of Ioannina. The University is easily accessible from the city by bus or by car.
Access using public transport:
City Center to UOI <-> UOI to City Center:
Bus line No 16, across the Court House. Tickets can be bought form kiosks called “Periptera” and the cost is 1.20 euro (full fare).
The stop for the Chemistry Dpt is the 3rd one after you enter the gate, just after the stop to University Hospital.
Access using Taxis:
Taxis can be also used (dark green in color) and the cost to Chemistry Dpt is usually less than 10 euro from the city center. (I suggest to use also a taxi from Airport to city center- the cost is less than 15 Euro, since public transportation may be complicated and is not recommended).
